On the slopes of an active volcano in Guatemala, a marriage is arranged for seventeen-year-old María by her Kaqchikel parents.
This film is very much in the same vein as Tanna. It's a classical story, as old as the earth. And, like Tanna, it is the sociological side of events which give a new spin to the old. The rituals and traditions of the Kaqchikel are fascinating, although less pronounced than in Tanna.
